LithaBone HA 400 is a slurry with a base of hydroxyapatite, a naturally occurring mineral that is the main component of bone. Due to its similarity to the inorganic components of bone, HA has excellent biocompatibility and osteoconductivity.

These properties result in a number of potential applications as a bone substitute. Compared to tricalcium phosphate (LithaBone TCP 300), hydroxyapatite takes longer to be absorbed into the body, but gives the body more time to heal.
