At Formnext 2023, Lithoz Opened the Door to Multi-Material Innovation

After great reception of the new lithium disilicate dental material at IDS 2023 in March and the successful Formnext last year, the Lithoz team was excited to come together for the grand trade show finale of 2023 – “Formnext – Where Ideas Take Shape”. This year, the company’s flagship printer CeraFab Multi 2M30 was on display in its premiere appearance alongside a variety of fascinating 3D-printed multi-material parts, bioresorbable medical implants and serially produced achievements by leading Lithoz partners, all together forming the “Ceramic AM Factory”. With numerous visitors and a great media reaction, Formnext 2023 was a real success for Lithoz!

Our main focus this year was to showcase the latest cutting-edge innovations in multi-material 3D printing, with many fascinating multi-functional parts on display – all printed using the CeraFab Multi 2M30 which had its world trade show premiere appearance. This powerful LCM 3D printer combines different materials, such as ceramic with metal, two different ceramics or ceramic with polymer or, in one single functional part – and even within one single printed layer. Visitors could experience the CeraFab Multi in person at the Lithoz booth, witnessing exactly how the industry-leading LCM technology has been adapted for multi-material 3D printing. To support our CeraFab Multi’s appearance, visitors had the exclusive chance to examine a wide array of next-generation multi-functional parts in an up-close ‘touch and feel’ experience.

Thanks to the overwhelming interest in 3D-printed healthcare applications showcased last year, Lithoz were determined to meet the demands of visitors and had an even broader range of perfectly natural-looking lithium disilicate dental restorations and bioresorbable implants on show, using valuable bioceramics such as hydroxy apatite or tricalcium phosphate. Learning more about the benefits of these innovative parts for patients and surgeons alike was a real hit with visitors, keeping our medical team busy with discussions over the whole four days!

The final focus for the Lithoz team at Formnext 2023 was to showcase the arrival of ‘the Ceramic AM Factory’. Using Lithoz technology, our partners – including Bosch Advanced Ceramics, Steinbach and SiNAPTIC – have successfully printed fresh parts ready for serial production, which were on display this year. With the growing demand for ceramic 3D printing at an industrial scale being clear across fields, these achievements by our partners in scaling up the Lithoz LCM process marks a real milestone in digital mass production for industrial use.

Our dedicated team had a fantastic four days answering any and all questions about high performance ceramics, 3D printing and how we see our technology disrupting the face of industry and medicine and rewriting the rules of ceramics. With large numbers of visitors to our stand every day, it was rewarding to share with you all our knowledge and share the message of ceramic 3D printing with a wider audience!
